Walter Burton Alley

The Telegram-Tribune, San Luis Obispo, California, 19 August 1994: Walter Burton Alley, 87, of San Luis Obispo died Wednesday, August 17, 1994, at a San Luis Obispo convalescent center. No services will be held. Cremation has taken place. Mr. Alley was born June 21, 1907, in Morro Bay. He was raised in Navajo and attended La Panza School. After gold mining with his Father, he worked at farming on the Carrisa Plains. Later, he was manager for Alley Bros. Farming on the Camatta Ranch for 25 years. This was interrupted by his serving three years in Saipan, New Hebrides and Okinawa in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He served as a sergeant T3 of the Army 27th Signal Corps, where his electronic knowledge enabled him and his crew of 11 to repair critically needed electronics gear in all stages of war conditions,. More recently, he farmed east of San Miguel. He loved hunting and gardening. His interest in electronics continued all his life. He is survived by two brothers, Edward C. Alley of Paso Robles and Robert L. Alley of Atascadero; a sister, Florence Alley Dunlap of Los Gatos; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Oakley Alley; and his brother, William S. Alley.
