Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for John W. Heald who passed away at his home southeast of Rolfe on May 19 at 8 p.m. The Rev. W. F. Schneck officiated at the 2:30 service in the Presbyterian church. The hymns "Sweet Hour of Prayer, " "Have Thee Own Way Lord," and "Ivory Palaces," were sung by a quartet composed of Lyle Lund, Arthur Lund, Bruce Fisher and James H. McIntire. They were accompanied by Mrs. George Beckord at the organ. Pallbearers were Fred Nelson, John Nelson, Louis Peterson, Grover Shriner, Ed Weigman, and Lee Malcolm. Burial was in the Clinton-Garfield cemetery. The floral arrangements was in charge of Mrs. Fred Nelson, Mrs. Orvin Olerica,and Leroy Nelson. Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond McHone and family, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stocker, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. McHone, Mrs. Fred McHone and Fern McHone, all of Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Seaman of Greenville; Mrs. A. A. Seaman and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Keir of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Stromer and Harold Stromer of Klemme; Mrs. Aaron Stromer of Garner; Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Brogetti of Fort Dodge; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Turley and L. A. Malcolm of Bradgate; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Bartin of Humboldt.

John Wesley Heald, only son of George and Sarah Heald, was born September 28, 1878, in Humboldt county on a farm one half mile southeast of Bradgate. At the age of 2 1/2 years he moved with his parents to the farm three miles southeast of Rolfe, where he spent the remainder of his life. On March 25, 1903, he united in marriage to Edith Turley who preceded him in death on March 26, 1942. To this union four children were born: Walter and George of Rolfe, Mildred McHone of Ames, and Marion Kolb of New Haven, Conn. Seven grandchildren survive and one sister, Mrs. Len Barth of Anacortes, Wash.

Mr. Heald had been a member of the Presbyterian church for more than 50 years and was a willing worker in any way he could be of assistance. He was honest in all his dealings and his family came first in his thoughts. In the fall of 1948 his health began to fail and on the evening of May 19 he passed away suddenly at the age of 70 years, seven month and 21 days.
