LAFAYETTE -- Corliss "Jock" Ingels, 68, of LaFayette died at 7:41 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 1998, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. Born April 11, 1930, in LaFayette to Corliss S. and Alberta Taylor Ingels, he married Elva Fleming in 1952 in Sparland. She died in 1974. He married Dorotha Cochran Lahr on May 25, 1974, in LaFayette. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Douglas Ingels of Toulon, and Eric Ingels, Thong Ingels, Mrs. Burt (Colleen) Stevens and Diane Lahr, all of LaFayette, Savath Ingels, Chankeo Doungdeth and Hung Chau, all of Peoria, Stephen Lahr of Bloomington, and David Lahr and Claudia Cree, both of rural Galva; one brother, Roger of Galva; three sisters, Mrs. Howard (Rosella) Schumacher of LaRose, Mrs. Harold (Susan) Landrus of Georgetown, Tenn., and Mrs. Chuck (Doris) Rathbun of Colfax; and 20 grandchildren. His stepmother, Ethel Ingels, and one foster son, Bounteo Hongsavilavong Ingels, preceded him in death.

He graduated from Michigan State College. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the former Fred J. Wilkins American Legion. He was president of LaFayette Home Nursery Inc. for more than 30 years, which he and his brother co-owned. He retired in 1992. He was a member of LaFayette United Methodist Church. He was former president of the Western Illinois Rabbit Breeders Association and the Illinois Rabbit Breeders Association, and was a member of the Peoria Area Rabbit Association. He was a member of the Four Lakes Fishing Club. He was a member of the Illinois State Nurseryman's Association, American Association of Nurserymen and the International Plant Propagator's Association. He formerly served on the LaFayette School Board and the LaFayette Village Board. He was a former Stark County deputy and was a marshal for the village of LaFayette. He was a supervisor for Goshen Township, Stark County Township Board. He was a former member of the Peoria Academy of Science and the Rock Island Philatelic Club. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rux Funeral Home, Galva. The Rev. Rick Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in LaFayette Cemetery. Memorials may be made to his church building fund or to Abilities Plus in Kewanee.
