The Oklahoman, October 11, 2009: Cecil Eugene (Gene) Aycock, 92, of OKC, passed away on October 8, 2009. He was born October 12, 1916 in Capulin, NM to James Albert & Minnie Ella Aycock. The Aycock family moved to Colorado in 1918. Gene graduated from high school in 1935. The family was forced to leave the ranch due to the effects of the "Dust Bowl." They reunited with family in Cleveland Co. near Norman, OK to farm. Sensing a ministerial calling on his life, Gene graduated in 1937 from Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, GA and began his ministry. He was ordained in 1938 by the International Pentecostal Holiness Church and continued to serve congregations in OK for 25 years. In 1964 Gene received his teaching certificate and taught at John Glenn Elem. in OKC for 13 yrs. until his retirement in 1980. He served in various leadership capacities (including Elder) at Crossroads Church for 40 years. Gene is survived by siblings: Mattie Lou Reagan, Gladys Lunow & Don Aycock; children, Galen Aycock & Marcia Aycock; grandchildren, Matthew Aycock & Melissa Zeager; great-grandchildren, Emily Aycock & Owen Zeager. Services will be 2 PM, Monday, at Crossroads Church Chapel. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
