Americo John Lorenzini

Fort Morgan Times, Fort Morgan, Colorado, Wednesday, February 6, 2002: Americo John Lorenzini, 83, died Monday at the Chadron, Neb., Community Hospital. He was born July 31, 1918, near Fort Morgan to John and Maria Lorenzini. Lorenzini enlisted in the Army at Lowry Field near Denver on Nov. 5, 1940, and served in the 1697th Ordnance Company in the North Africa and European Theaters of War, returning after the end of the war in Europe in 1945. He began working for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad in 1947 and continued with the Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He is survived by his wife, Harriet Lorenzini of Alliance, Neb.; a daughter, Nancy Nixon of Chadron; two sons, Robert Lorenzini of Pleasanton, Calif., and James Lorenzini of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Joe Lorenzini of Warren, Mich.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John Lorenzini; one granddaughter; three sisters and two brothers. A celebration of life will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel with Pastor Steve Moody officiating. Graveside services will be at Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan on Saturday at 2 p.m. Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
