Gregory Carl Tafs

Tafs, age 82 of Spring Green passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2013, at Greenway Manor Nursing Home. Greg was born on Dec. 19, 1930, in Oakland, Calif., the son of Gus and Sadie Tafs. Greg graduated from Fremont High School in 1949 and shortly after embarked on his life journey as an upscale upholsterer, putting the finishing touches on many fine pieces of furniture that were shipped throughout the United States. Greg married the former Constance "Connie" Scoles, whom he lovingly called "Dolly", in Reno, Nev., on March 24, 1955. They recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary together. Greg and Connie lived most of their married life in the California Bay area, moving to Spring Green in 1993 when Greg retired. Greg was a devoted and loving husband and father. He enjoyed music and the outdoors. Greg is survived by his wife Connie, two sons, Marlon (Deb) of Plain, and Gary of Las Vegas, Nev., three grandsons, Joshua (Sheila), Ryan, and Justin (Rita), three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Braelyn and Angus; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry (Linda) Scoles, Dorothy Scoles, Kathy Scoles, Mark (Carol) Scoles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wayne Shepperd; a nephew, Brandon Scoles; father and mother-in-law, Clark and Lucille Scoles; and a family friend, Henning Christensen. A private celebration of Greg's life is being planned by his family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Greenway Manor Nursing Home, 501 S. Winsted St., Spring Green, WI 53588. Greg's family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff and administration at Greenway Manor for their dedication and service to those who call this "home".
