The Iowa Recorder, Greene (Butler Co.) Iowa, 10 January 1917: Mrs. Joe Brisco, aged 60 years and 10 months, died at her home here, Thursday, January 4, 1917 and the funeral was held at the M. E. Church at 11 o'clock Sunday services by Rev. Ward. The remains were taken to Greene for burial. Besides her husband, she leaves one daughter, Alice and two sons, Clifton and Vern, of Minneapolis, who were all here to attend the funeral. Mrs. Brisco was formerly Miss Emily Forthum, and was born at Bergen-Stice, Norway, February 14, 1856, and came to America at the age of 13 years. December 14, 1883 she married Joseph Brisco at Pleasant Grove, Floyd Co., Iowa. Early in life she joined the M. E. church, and was also a member of the Rebehak lodge. The cause of her death was pneumonia, following a severe attack of the grippe.
