Also in the household is Conrad Koelsch, hired man doing farm labor, age 27, single born in Germany. Conrad marries into the family by marrying Estella's sister Marcia.
The Post & Record, Rochester, Minnesota, Friday, November 29, 1912, Front Page, Col. 7: Douglas Citizen Called By Death. Charles E. Stevens Passed Away at Home at Early Hour. Charles E. Stevens, a man well known and highly respected by his intimate friends, passed away at his home in Douglas this morning at the age of 54 years. Mr. Stevens was born in Syracus, Wis., May 3, 1858 and with his parents he moved to New Haven township, this county in 1861.There he grew to manhood and on March 7th [2nd]1887, he was married to Miss Estella Clason. Two children were born, Elmer Clarance, who resides on the farm near Douglas, and Helen Arzena, who passed away a few years ago. Mr. Stevens was a man who was ever held in highest esteem by all who knew him. He was a member of the Douglas camp of Modern Woodmen. The funeral was held at the residence near Douglas on Sunday at 1 o'clock, and interment was in the Douglas cemetery.
