Keith County News, Nov. 23, 1933: Mrs. C. C. Campbell Rites Held Nov. 9th. Funeral rites for Mrs. C. C. Campbell of Brule, were held from the Ogallala Pilgrim Holiness Church, on Thursday, November 5th conducted by Mrs. G. C. Benson, assisted by Rev. D. H. Reiff. Interment was made at Gothenburg (Grandview Cemetery). Arrangements in charge of the Stone Funeral Home. Katherine Purdy Campbell, the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Purdy was born June 1, 1875 at Rockport, Indiana. In 1875, she with her parents moved to Crete, Nebraska and in 1883 they came west and settled at Gothenburg, Nebraska, where she grew to womanhood. After teaching ten years she was united in marriage to Chas. C. Campbell at Lexington, Nebraska by Rev. Mayes. The lived south of Gothenburg two years then moved to Cozad where they lived for six years and later moved to Brule, Nebraska where they resided until her death. There were five children born to this union, Howard of Hershey, Mrs. Irene B. Blair, Carl and Earl, twins and Robert of Brule. After a lingering illness of several months she passed away at her home Nov. 3, 1933. She was converted at 12 years of age and later joined the Evangelical church at Gothenburg. She attended church at Brule until she found her church home at Ogallala two years ago. She attended church as regular as her health would permit. It was a great disappointment to her when she could not attend church. She served her Lord and Master until the end. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband and four sons and only daughter, 3 grandchildren, 1 sister Miss Sadie Purdy of Montello, Nevada other relatives and a host of friends. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, always thinking of her loved ones and doing for them first of all. Those attending the funeral from a distance were Miss Sadie Purdy of Montella, Nevada, Mrs. Henry Brestel, Miss Annie Plumberg, Miss Virda Campbell of Gothenburg, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Campbell and family, Mr. and Mrs. Oral Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Liles, Mrs. Esther Liles of North Platte, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Powell of Paxton and Miss Thelma Minton of Sedgwick, Colo.
