The Kansas City Star, Kansas City, Missouri, Thursday, October 5, 2000: Walter "Lefty" Register was called to God's Kingdom on Tuesday, October 3, 2000, at his home in Blue Springs. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 6, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Chipman Rd. & Independence Ave., Lee's Summit, MO. Visitation will follow at the church. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial gifts to Preisinger Scholarship Fund c/o of St. Matthew's or to Faith Lutheran Church in Richmond, MO. Walt was born July 27, 1922, in Hodge, MO, the 14th child of Francis and Mary Josephine Register. He spent his childhood years in Hardin, MO and was a graduate of Hardin High School. He worked in auto sales most of his life, having worked for various car dealerships. He also owned his own used car business and was co-owner of Western Auto Store in Richmond, MO. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Norma Giles Register, of the home; five daughters, Sandra Register, Kansas City, Pamela and Craig Herman, Sapulpa, OK, Stephanie and Mike Clark, Eureka Springs, AR, Marsha and Larry Scudiero, Kansas City, and Liza and Russ Denton, Lake Mary, FL; one son, Walter "Cash" Register II and wife, Jill, Clayton, CA. Also surviving are five stepsons, Stephen Giles, Atlanta, GA, Gary and Marnie Giles, Overland Park, KS, Dennis and Linda Giles, Olathe, KS, Brian and Deborah Giles, The Woodlands, TX, Timothy and Kristine Giles, Richmond, MO; three stepdaughters, Laurie Stansbury, Raytown, MO, Colleen and Phillip Conway, Raytown, MO and Marla Churnside, Whitehouse, TX; and 22 grandchildren.
