The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, Saturday, July 13, 2002: Mrs. Betty B. Aycock, 76, of Charlotte, NC, died July 11, 2002 at Huntersville Oaks Nursing Center. Mrs. Aycock was born February 16, 1926 in Fitzgerald, GA, a daughter of the late Gerald Vincent Blizzard and Lessie Grantham. She had been a resident of Charlotte for 40 years and worked as a Geriatric nurse for many years. She was a former member of Shantilly Baptist Church. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Aycock will be held 3:30 PM Saturday, July 13, 2002 at McEwen Charlotte Chapel with The Reverend Jerry Wollery officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Mrs. Aycock is survived by her children, Suzanne Aycock Shaw of Silver Springs, MD, Sanders Frank Aycock of Moravian Falls, NC and James Clyde Aycock, III of Smithfield, VA; grandchildren, Bonnie Aycock Wright of Smithfield, VA, James Clyde Aycock IV of Silver Springs, MD; and two great granddaughters, Rachel Abigail Wright and Rebekah Alexander Wright, both of Smithfield, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Clyde Aycock, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in remembrance of Mrs. Aycock to The Alzheimer's Association, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
