The Southern Illinoisan, June 12, 1961: Sesser Woman Killed In Wreck. Mrs. Roxie Ann Jones, 90, Sesser, was killed in an automobile accident near Kankakee Saturday. Two cars and a truck were involved in the accident. Mrs. Jones and another woman were riding. All are in the hospital. The driver of the other car involved was also killed. The Jones were on their way to Sesser. Mrs. Jones had been staying with members of her family in Steeger. She was born Feb. 13, 1871, in Franklin County. Her parents were Prudence A. Huie and William Kirkpatrick. Her husband James Monroe Jones, died in 1907. Mrs. Jones leaves son Charlie of Steeger: daughters Mrs. Zola Atchison of Sesser, Mrs. Delpha Johnson of Steeger; sister Mrs. Ollie Ramsey of Solon, Ohio; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Horse Prairie Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. John Maulding will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Bill Christoff. Friends may call at the Brayfield Funeral Home, Sesser.
