Her family & friends loved her so much in return. She passed away on January 10,1996 in a local hospital. She was born in Custer County, South Dakota on March 2, 1916 to Gladys A. (Kinsey) and Leonard Stanhope. She married Benny F. Jones, her best friend, love of her life and avid fishing partner, who preceded in death in 1987. She moved from South Dakota to Pilot Rock in Eastern Oregon and then to Glide in 1953. She was a member of Glide Baptist Church, the Glide Garden Club and had a real love of flowers. She was talented oil painter. She enjoyed traveling and fishing in Canada and the Oregon Coast. She is survived by: daughters, Jeri and husband Leon of Roseburg, Oregon, Benna Wing of Reno, Nevada and Maxine Stevenson of Hermiston, Oregon; a special daughter Arlene; a son, Larry Jones and wife Ruth of Carlton, Oregon; brothers, Richard and wife Janice Stanhope of Pilot Rock, Oregon and Kenneth and wife Nadine Stanhope of Pendleton, Oregon; sister Francis and husband Glen Gibbons of Milton Freewater, Oregon; 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Rodney Stanhope. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 1996 at the Glide Baptist Church, in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Glide Baptist Church in Verlie's name.
