The North Platte Telegraph, North Platte, Nebraska, Sunday, February 15, 2015: Ronnie L. Schmeeckle, 59, of Cozad, died Feb. 12, 2015, in Cozad. He was born on June 3, 1955, in Cozad, the son of Donald and Florence Schmeeckle. Ron grew up on the rural farm north of Cozad. He attended Kearney State College. He was a member of the Quality Pork board, 4-H, 81-R School board, American Lutheran Church and Wednesday night pool.
Ron enjoyed hunting, listening to music and playing the piano and guitar. He also enjoyed going to live concerts and educational television, especially history, science and RFD-TV. He also enjoyed swimming, hanging out at Kent's house watching football games and his dogs. Ron especially enjoyed spending time with his three sons and family.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Matthew DeLap.
Surviving him are his wife, Kelly Schmeeckle, of Cozad; sons, Casey Schmeeckle, Archie Schmeeckle and Levi Schmeeckle, all of Cozad; brothers, Marlan (Sally) Schmeeckle, of Gothenburg, and Norman (Jean) Schmeeckle, of Hastings; sister, Marlene (Morry) DeLap, of Lexington; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Blaine and Arlene Peterson, of Gothenburg; sister-in-law, Kristi (Stan) Combs, of London Mills, Illinois; brothers-in-law, Steve (Ligia) Peterson, of Gothenburg, Gregg (Deb) Peterson, of Lyons, Colorado, and Kent (Krystal) Peterson, of Anchorage, Alaska; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at American Lutheran Church with Pastor Jon Mapa officiating. Burial will follow at American Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m., with the family present from 5-7 p.m., on Monday, Feb. 16, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, which is in charge of arrangements.
