(16 Sep 1924 - 3 Apr 2014)

Clarion Ledger, Jackson, Mississippi, April 5-6, 2014: Kenneth Noyes---Jackson, Mississippi. Ken was born in Dubuque, Iowa to Floyd and Neva Noyes on September 16th 1924. Six years later his sister Dorothy Marie was added to the family. Ken went to Fulton Elementary school and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. He received the Lord Jesus Christ as his own personal Savior in 1942 while in high school and felt called into full time ministry. After graduation he worked in a local factory. He and a friend were able to conduct a children's Bible class in a nearby town. He was also active in his church. (Or in Dubuque Bible Church). He enrolled in Moody Bible Institute, but was not able to attend. This was during War II and he was drafted into the Navy. He served the next three years on board the U.S. Zeilin in the South Pacific as a cook and then a baker. They carried troops and equipment to free several of our islands from Japanese control. He was in three major invasions and two support operations.

When a Japanese plane crashed on the rear of his ship and exploded, Ken felt God saved his life as his battle station was in a gun tub on the rear of the ship but he was transferred to the bake shop that day. God kept him safe. He was discharged in April of 1946 and again, enrolled at Moody Bible Institute. This time he succeeded and enrolled in the Home Missions Course and graduated in 1949. It was at Moody that he met his wife-to-be and they were married in 1949 shortly after graduation. Ken was contacted by the Moody placement bureau with an urgent need to help teach in Open Door Bible Institute, a small black Bible school in Jackson, Mississippi where he served as a teacher and then the Dean of the school for the next four years.

In 1960 they moved to McComb where the Lord led them into a new type of ministry; sharing the Word of God with students in black public schools and in Vacation Bible School in black churches. He also taught in night Bible classes two nights a week in Mendenhall, MS. In 1964 they moved back to Jackson in similar ministries. Thursday night classes in Oakey, the state of reformatory, was added in 1968. He continued in this type ministry until his death on April 3, 2014. His son David was also a big help in the ministry and wants to continue the ministry.
