Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, Ontario, California,Thursday, March 14, 2002: William Seward Southworth.Bill Southworth, 92, of Pomona died Feb. 26, 2002 at Claremont Manor in Claremont, Calif. He was born June 27, 1909 in Rochester, New York and had lived in Pomona since 1928. He was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church for 64 years where he was an usher for 50 years. He was an active member of The Pilgrim Partners, Salvation Army, Pomona Historical Society, Merry Makers Dance Club, Friends of the Pomona Library, a charter member of the Breakfast Optimist Club, Masons, Globe Trotters Travel Club, a Los Angeles motorcycle club named The Trail Blazers, American Field Service where he hosted foreign students and High Desert Ramblers where Bill and his wife enjoyed camping. "Wild Bill", as he was known to his friends, was still riding motorcycles. His life long dream was to be the world's oldest motorcycle rider. Married for 63 years to Betty Southworth, who died in August, 2001. He is survived by four sons, John of Hawaii and wife Sigrid; Steve of Exeter, Calif., married to Cherri and their two daughters, Amanda and Stephanie; Donald of Alta Loma married to Gayle and their two daughters Kimberly and Heidi; and a fourth son, David of Pomona. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 23, at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Pomona. Todd Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
