Humboldt Times, Humboldt, California, Thursday, March 29, 1934: Mrs. J. E. Hozier* Dies in Fortuna. Fortuna, March 28.---Mrs. Maryetta Hozier passed on today shortly after 1 p.m. at her home following a lingering illness. She was one of the most dearly beloved people of this community, possessing a personality that endeared her to a large circle of friends. For many years she was an active worker in the Fortuna Christian church, until failing health made it impossible to continue with her church duties. Mrs. Maryetta Hozier was born June 1, 1867 in Morris, Ill. and came to California in 1874. On December 28, 1886, she was united in marriage to J. E. Hozier, who still survives her. The wedding took place in Rohnerville, and they have made their home where for the last 48 years. Two children were born to this union, one son, Kenneth of Oakland, and one daughter, the late Mrs. Gertrude White, who passed on less than a year ago. Besides her husband and son, one brother, Albert Rolley of Fortuna, and two grand children survive her. The funeral will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from the Hunter Wise chapel with the Rev. S. A. Nesbett of Oakland officiating. Interment will take place in the Myrtle Grove cemetery, Eureka.
