The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sunday, April 24, 1960, Page 45, Col. 2: Services for Vernon J. Phelps, 70, of 2925 N. Murray av., were held Saturday afternoon at the Fass funeral home, 3601 N. Oakland av., Shorewood. Burial was in Valhalla cemetery. Mr. Phelps was the former owner of the Big 4 Sign Co., 916 N. Edison st., which specializes in gold leaf lettering on windows. He sold the firm a week ago. He died of a heart attack Thursday at Sacred Heart sanitarium. He suffered several heart attacks in the last year. Surviving are a son, Vernon A. of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Jeanette Smith, Grand Prairie, Tex., and Mrs. Ethel Arentsen, Janesville, Wis.; a brother, Dean, Beloit, and a sister, Mrs. Ella Wold, Hobart, Ind.
