Graveside service is 3 p.m. today in Cedar Shoals Presbyterian Church cemetery with Rev. Clarence Fouse officiating. Visitation is at the residence. Born December 18, 1924 in Chester County, he was a son of the late W.A. and Ruth Atkinson Darby. A Navy veteran of WWII, he was a retired well drilling contractor. He was a charter member of the SC Well Drillers Assn., member and former elder of Cedar Shoals Presbyterian Church, and a member of Richburg Mason Lodge No. 89 and Hejaz Shrine Temple. He was an Iptay representative. Survivors include his wife, Eliza A. Darby; son, Robert A. Darby, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Ruth D. Lunnie of Pearisburg, VA; brothers, J.A. Darby of Rock Hill and O'Neal Darby of Chester; and grandsons, Robert A. Darby, III and Matthew David Darby. Memorials may be made to Cedar Shoals Presbyterian Church Cemetery; 5056 Richburg Rd., Richburg, SC 29729. Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, Great Falls, is in charge.
