Posted at findagrave.com: Eleanor Wilkerson Ashe of Greenville passed away Jan. 21, 2013, at the age of 86. She was the third of five children born to Samuel Hunt Wilkerson and Irma Hood Wilkerson of Hickory Grove. She was born at the family's ancestral home on Nov. 2, 1926. Eleanor grew up in Hickory Grove and following high school became a graduate of Hollingsworth Business College in Charlotte, N.C. Upon graduating, she became a public accountant for A&P Tea Company, also located in Charlotte. Following a marriage, she and her family lived briefly in Spartanburg before moving to Fayetteville, Tenn., where she worked for Sears Roebuck and Company. After another relocation, that being Greenville, she was employed by Yeargin Aviation, but finished her accounting career with Evode Tanner Chemical Company. Eleanor was a long time member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Greenville. She served many years as treasurer of her Sunday School class and also treasurer for her community circle group. In addition, she served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, delivering food to those in need. Surviving are her brother, Robert Phillip Wilkerson of Blacksburg; her daughter, Robin Ashe (Stephen) Flood and their children Shea, Quinton, Keely, Ian and Colin Flood of Manasquan, N.J.; and family members, Beverly Ashe Pierce and David Pierce of Charlotte, N.C. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Francis Marion Ashe, who recently passed last August; her two sisters, Sara Beth Landreth and Nanola Buckner; and her brother James Carlisle Wilkerson, who was killed in World War II. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 28, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Visitation for friends will precede from 12-1 p.m. Interment will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
