Posted at findagrave.com: Helen Abbott Rye, 90, of Jasper died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at her residence. The funeral will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home with burial in Walker Memory Gardens. The Revs. Charles Powell, James Newell and Conrad Howell will officiate. Kilgord-Green Funeral Home is directing. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., today, March 10, 2004, at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. She was a member of First Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was a faithful teacher and member of the Loyalty Sunday School Class for many years. She was a school teacher for over 40 years with her last 30 years at Walker County High School. She and her husband, Leon, loved Walker Viking football and did not miss a game for over 15 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Rye; parents, Jim and Carrie Davis Abbott; two sisters, Ruth Blake and Ann Beaty; one brother, Thomas Abbott; and beloved son-in-law, Jimmy McGee. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane McGee of Jasper, granddaughter, Kim Derrick and her husband, Kevin of Acworth, Ga.; great grandchildren, Landon and Ashlyn Derrick of Acworth, Ga.; brother; John G. (J.G.) Abbott of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; sister-in-law, Reba Abbott of Jasper; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jane Moss Roberts, Jan Tubbs, Sandy and Gene Lawrence, and J.T. and Nora Garrigan.
