Douglas Robert Hanson

Published in Salt Lake Tribune from Jan. 4 to Jan. 5, 2014. Aug. 30, 1948 ~ Dec. 30, 2013. Doug was born in Jacksonville, FL then moved to Salt Lake City, UT as a young boy. He graduated from Highland High School, attended Westminster College, graduated from the University of Utah and earned his Masters of Science Degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California. He was a Major in the United States Air Force, and served as a pilot from 1974 to 1994. After his military career he worked for the Department of Justice in the Flight Operations Department and later transferred to the Federal Aviation Administration as an aviation safety inspector.

He married Jean A Burton in 1974, had two sons Scott A Hanson and Jeffrey R Hanson. He later divorced and married Suzanna Ermeling in 2004. Doug was a loving, kind, and generous man whose family was the focus and joy of his life. He is survived by his wife Suzanna Windsong Hanson, sons Scott Hanson and Jeff Hanson, and step children Justin Lucast, and Brennan Loyola, grandsons Colson, Knowlten, and Bryce, as well as many other family members. A memorial service will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 Highland Drive, on Sunday January 5, 2014 from 2-4pm.
