The Peoria Journal Star, Peoria, Illinois, Wednesday, January 1, 1997: Galesburg--- Frank L. Johnson Jr., 74, of 201 Highland Ave. died at 5:55 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, at his residence. Born Oct. 5, 1922, in Hanna City to Frank L. Sr. and Bertha Frances Doubet Johnson, he married Ardith Kirkpatrick on June 16, 1945, in Galesburg. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, David H. of Arvada, Colo., and Daniel L. of Galesburg; one daughter, Diane L. Ralston of Arvada; three brothers, Gerald H. Sr. of Sahuarita, Ariz., Darrel E. of Bushnell, Dr. Marvin C. of Macomb; one sister, Evelyn M. Stegall of Jacksonville, Fla.; and six grandchildren. He lived in the Galesburg and Abingdon area all his life and graduated from Abingdon High School. He was a methods engineer for Gale Products, Outboard Marine Corp. in Galesburg for 40 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Alpha Masonic Lodge #155 Galesburg Moline Consistory, Moline; Mohammed Shrine, Peoria; and El Bon Shrine, Galesburg. He served as a Galesburg city alderman from 1970 to 1983. He was a scoutmaster for Troop 12 and was a Galesburg representative for the Western Illinois Regional Council. He was an assistant coach of Little League. He was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He was the last living charter member of the Galesburg Credit Union. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Galesburg. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Galesburg. The Revs. Norman E. Myer and Kermit W. Petersen will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with a Masonic service at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the Shriners' Crippled Children's Hospital.
