State Journal-Register, Springfield, Illinois, Friday, August 8, 1975, Page 53: Jacksonville---Gary Eugene Karraker, 30, of RR 3 Jacksonville was pronounced dead upon arrival at 5:45 p.m. Thursday in Passavant Hospital following an accident at his farm home, 7 miles northeast of here. According to Morgan County Coroner Don Lowe, Karraker was repairing the brakes on a 1966 Chevrolet stationwagon when a jack slipped and the vehicle fell on him. At the time his wife was in the car pumping the brakes and unit was elevated on wooden blocks. She felt the auto moving backwards and after it fell heard her husband scream. She got out of the car and found him pinned under the rear of the vehicle. An inquest will be held and the body is at Gillham-Buchanan Funeral Home.
