Quincy, Ill.---13-year old Ronald Roskamp of Keokuk is listed in critical condition this morning at Quincy's Blessing Hospital, where he is being treated for injuries suffered when struck by a car in Hancock County. The accident occurred at 12:05 p.m., Wednesday, on Illinois Highway 96, one and four-tenths miles south of the West Point Road. Roskamp was struck by a car driven by Allen Saxbery, 76, Sutter. The boy was reportedly crossing the road to the mailbox when he was hit.

He was born July 31, 1963 in Keokuk, the son of Kenneth Roskamp and Barbara Mardis Roskamp Shaffer. He attended Washington-Central School and would have been a student at Keokuk Junior High School this fall. He participated in the Y baseball program.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Roskamp, Hamilton, Ill.; his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Greg Shaffer, Keokuk; one sister, Laurie Hamilton; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Roskamp of Sutter, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Shaffer, Keokuk; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Mardi, Keokuk, and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Webb, Bushnel, Ill.; great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bricknan, Ursa, Ill.; uncles, aunts and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, at the Trinity Methodist Church. The Rev. Merlin J. Ackerson, and the Rev. Lee Anthony and the Rev. David Weber will officiate. Interment will be in the Tioga, Ill., Bethany Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, at the Schmidt Memorial Home.
