New Hampton, Ia.---Special: Physicians at St. Joseph's hospital here said Tuesday that injuries suffered by Mrs. Clark Scoles, 23, of Nashua, in an automobile accident near Hawkeye Saturday night would probably not be fatal. Mrs. Scoles suffered a fractured skull and a fractured right arm. Her daughter, Connie Lee, three years old, is suffering from head injuries. Harold Kirchman of Sumner, driver of the other car which struck the automobile driven by Dale Walsh, 25, Clear Lake truck driver, received cuts and bruises on the face, arms and chest. He is expected to be released from the hospital within a few days. Mrs. Walsh, 26, was fatally injured in the crash. Her mother, Mrs. August Becker, 50, of Nashua, is in a West Union hospital with a fractured skull. Walsh, who also suffered a fractured skull, is also in the West Union hospital. Miss Virginia Harms, Leslie Wells and Miss Lucille Kirchman, who were in the automobile with Harold Kirchman, were all treated at the hospital here. The young women were treated for cuts and bruises while Wells had a fractured collarbone set.

Oelwein Daily Reporter, Oelwein, Iowa, Wednesday, September 18, 1935, Page 5, Col. 2: Second Death From Accident. Dale Walsh, 26, Died From Injuries Sustained In Auto Accident Last Saturday Night. Last night at the West Union hospital Dale Walsh of Clear Lake, died as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident that occurred eight miles west of Hawkeye at 9:30 Saturday night. His wife, injured in the same accident with him, died about a half hour after the injury occurred. His mother-in-law, Mrs. Becker of Nashua, also an occupant of the car, has never regained consciousness, and is in critical condition in the West Union hospital. The other occupants of the car, Mrs. Clark Scoles, aged 23, of Nashua, and her little daughter, Connie Lee, aged three, are reported to be recovering at the hospital in New Hampton. This accident which occurred Saturday night and previously reported in these columns, was caused when a car driven by Harold Kirschman, of Sumner, with Lucille Kirschman, Leslie Wells and Virginia Harms, driving north, struck the Walsh car at the intersection of No. 18, just at the west county line, as that car was driving east on No. 18. None of the occupants of the Sumner car were badly injured.
