Posted at findagrave.com: Services will be held for Mary Rahm, 89, at St Augustin's Catholic Church at 10am Monday, March 2. The family will receive visitors at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Mary, a lifelong resident of Des Moines, passed away on Friday, February 27 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery. Mary attended St. Augustin's Church and School. She graduated from North High School, attended Dowling Junior College and Drake University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She was active in the Altar and Rosary society and a founding member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Mother's Club. She enjoyed numerous social and civic organizations, playing bridge and spending time with her family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Clare, her parents Eugene and Theresa Heger, brother Eugene (Bud) Heger, and a sister Catherine Ann Sharp. Survivors include a son Tim J. Rahm (Rosemary) of Des Moines, daughters Mariclare Ortale (Greg) of Houston, TX and Jeanne Svatos (Dan) Omaha, NE, grandsons Brian and Andrew Ortale, Paul Rahm, Doug and Derek Svatos, great grandchildren Genevieve Ortale, Isabella Gurciullo and Jack Ortale. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bishop Drumm Care Center or Mercy Hospice. Arrangements by Iles Funderal Homes-Westover Chapel.
