Funeral service for Thomas edward Earnest, was held at the Crokes Funeral Home wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Owen Wilson officiating. John and Robert Ferrell sang "Somtime We Will Understand" and "No Night There," Fred Gingrich played the organ. Casketbearers were: Charles Earnest, Emmett Earnest, Xen Earnest, Clarence Earnest, John Payne and Boyd Browd. Thomas Edward Earnest, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Earnest, was born at Mediapolis on March 15, 1912, and died at his home six miles worthwest of Mt. Pleasant on June 5, 1950 at the age of 37 years, two months, 21 days. He had suffered a severe nervous breakdown in February of this year. In April 1936, he married Miss Dorothy Payne of Mt. Pleasant, and to this union one daughter, Carol Elaine, was born, who with his parents survives. He was grduated from Mt. Pleasant high school in 1931, and was a member of the Presbyterian church and IOOF, both of Mt. Pleasant. He was engaged in farming at the time of his death. An older brother, Max, preceded him in death in 1928. He was a devoted father and son and was held in the highest esteem by a host of friends and neighbors.
