Amarillo Globe-News, Amarillo, Texas, Thursday, April 3, 2008: Maude Kirkpatrick, 80, of Amarillo, died Monday, March 31, 2008. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Llano Cemetery with Dr. W. Winfred Moore, pastor emeritus of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was born Jan. 13, 1928, in Golden, Colo., to Everett and Elizabeth Haak. She married Howard Kirkpartrick on June 14, 1947, in Denver. Howard preceded her in death on May 18, 2006.
Called Maudie by her friends and family. She was very energetic and independent. She was a lifelong learner, appreciative of new ideas. She had a wonderfully smart sense of humor. Maudie loved art. She worked more than 20 years as an appliance saleswoman at Sears department store. She also served as a docent at the Amarillo Museum of Art and made frequent trips to Santa Fe, N.M. She loved to read and enjoyed winning at bridge. Her yard, of which she took great care, was a showpiece. Maudie was a 58-year resident of Amarillo.
Survivors include three daughters, Janet Love and husband Bruce of Jacksonville, Fla., Connie Markert and husband Alan of San Antonio and Holly Cardinali and husband Gary of Valencia, Calif.; four grandchildren, Andrew and Dana Love, Lauren Markert and Wendy Cardinali; and a sister, Katherine Fisher of Centennial, Colo.
