Betty Jane (Rogers) Kirkpatrick, age 85, of The Magnolias of Anderson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2012. Born in Conway, SC, Betty was a daughter of the late James S. Rogers and Eleanor (Southall) Rogers. She was the Valedictorian of Conway High School, Class of 1943 and was a graduate of Smithdeal Massey Business College of Richmond, VA. She was the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of the School of Agriculture at Clemson University, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 40 years and served on various committees and groups of the church as long as her health permitted. Betty is survived by her two sons, William O. Kirkpatrick and his wife, Joyce of Anderson, SC, and David M. Kirkpatrick and his wife, Dell of Spartanburg, SC; four grandchildren, Cameron, Bonnie, David and his wife, Catherine, and Drew and his wife Kaley; and two great-grandchildren, Ben and Taylor. In addition to her parents, and husband of 65 years, Olin S. "Kirk" Kirkpatrick, she was predeceased by two brothers and one sister. Following the private family Committal Service, the Memorial Service was held Sunday, March 4, 2012, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Reverend Robert Eubanks officiating.The family received friends immediately following the service.
