She was born Sept. 25, 1908, in Memphis, a daughter of Lewis and Ada Jenkins Smith. She was married Aug. 10, 1935, in Milan, to Dr. Lynn M. Garner, who died May 20, 1984. She attended school in Memphis and was a graduate of Stephens College and the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she received her degree in vocational home economics. She was an elementary school teacher in Truman, Ark, and a home economics teacher in the high schools at Tuscumbia and Triplet. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and served on its board of deacons. She was member of Association of University Women, Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, Lioness Club, Victoria Chapter No. 14, Order of Eastern Star, Cole County Medical Auxiliary, Miller County Historical Society and Memorial Community hospital Auxiliary. She was a Cub Scout den mother and a Girl Scout Brownie leader. Survivors include: one son, Dr. Royal Garner, St. Petersburg, Fla., one daughter, Betty Garner, Carmel Valley, Calif.; one sister Anna Mae Browning, Crystal City; one grand child and two step-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. Rudolph W. Beard will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 A.m. Thursday. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church or to the Salvation Army.
