The Advocate, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Thursday, May 7, 1970, Page 8, Col. 8: Watts, Mrs. Pearl Downs, died at 3 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, at her residence in Pineville. She was 76, a native of Terre Haute, Ind., and a retired registered nurse. Body at Hixon Brothers Funeral Home, Alexandria, until 8 a.m. Thursday, when it will be taken to the Improve Baptist Church, Improve, Miss. Religious services at the church at 2 p.m. Thursday. Interment in the Improve Cemetery. Survived by three daughters, Mrs. Bernice Kirkpatrick, Pineville, Mrs. Rosemary Shaw, Zachary, and Mrs. Winnie Taranto, Prairieville; two brothers, Paul Downs, Jackson, Miss., and John Downs, Fort Knox, Ky.; three sisters, Mrs. Hilda Pickens, Indianola, Miss., Mrs. Olive Cade, Lexington, Miss., and Mrs. Nell D. Journey, Greenwood, Miss.; 12 grandchildren. and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Carlos Watts.
