Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Ann's Catholic Church; 7231 Mission Road; burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Raytown. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Muehlebach Chapel, where the rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. The family suggests contributions to the church. Mr. LaPlante was born in Damar, Kan., and had lived in this area 64 years. He was a salesman for Prudential Life Insurance Co., retiring in 1985. He was a member of the church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Jane K. LaPlante of the home; two sons, D. Kirk LaPlante, Phoenix, and Bill G. LaPlante, Santa Cruz, Calif.; a daughter, Martha Bird, Prairie Village; three brothers, Oliver LaPlante, Milwaukie, Ore., Eugene LaPlante, Raytown, and George LaPlante, Lee's Summit; two sisters, Evon O'Connell, Independence, and Olive Kasper, Raytown; and 12 grandchildren.
