The News, Frederick, Maryland, Monday, January 14, 1991, Page 5, Col. 2: Mrs. Catherine Brown Younkin, 84, of 5820 Genesis Lane, Frederick, died Friday, Jan. 11, at Frederick Memorial hospital. She was the wife of Karst Eugene Younkin. Born Feb. 9, 1906, in Deadwood, S.D., she was a daughter of the late Samuel Willis Brown and Laura Vesta Bobbitt. Mrs. Younkin graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1929 and was a life member of OPEDA and the Phi Chi Theta sorority. Surviving besides her husband are two children, Karst Eugene Younkin Jr. of Gaithersburg and Donald E. Younkin of Frederick; seven grandchildren, Donna Logan of Thurmont, Marilyn Wojcik of West Chester, Ohio, Jeannie Younkin-Miller of Richmond, Va., Virginia Lee Connolly of Woodsboro, William Younkin of Alabama, Laura Younkin of Atlanta, Ga. and Wanda Hammer of Marysville, Wash.; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Younkin was preceded in death by two sisters, Genevieve Henderson and Vesta Howard. There will be no visitation or calling. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Frederick funeral home of Robert E. Dailey & son, 1201 N. Market St. The Rev. Fr. A. D. Salmon Jr., rector of All Saints Episcopal Church, will officiate. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
