ARENZVILLE - Robert Fricke, 76, of rural Arenzville died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown. He was born March 2, 1929, in Morgan County, the son of Julius and Hulda Staake Fricke. He married Emilie Lakamp in 1953 in rural Chapin. Mr. Fricke was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a lifelong farmer who specialized in breeding and worldwide marketing of purebred swine.
Survivors: wife, Emilie; two daughters, Sue (husband, Tom) Bertelsen of Little York and Jana (husband, Dennis) Hoenig of Smithfield; two sons, Neal (wife, Teresa) Fricke of Moline and Donn Fricke of Kewanee; six grandchildren; a stepgrandson; sister, Velda (husband, George) Deterding of Carson City, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family services: Camp Butler National Cemetery. Gillham-Buchanan Funeral Home of Jacksonville is in charge of the arrangements.
