Arthur "Morry" Chittenden Morrison, 97, of Turlock died Sept. 12 at Covenant Village Care Center. Mr. Morrison was a native of Oakland and was raised in Fresno. He lived in the Bay Area from 1927 to 1980, before settling in Turlock. He was a vessel superintendent and chief electrical engineer for Matson Navigation Company 44 years. During World War II, he installed sonar on transport ships owned by Matson. He was more than 80 years old when he attended California State University, Stanislaus, to study computers. He enjoyed electronics. He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Morrison of Menlo Park; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Morrison; and son, Robert Morrison. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Berg Hall. Burial at Turlock Memorial Park. No visitation.
