Mary Hooker

3 Mary Hooker (Thomas), daughter of Rev. Thomas Hooker of Hartford, Conn., married in 1644, Rev. Roger Newton, who was a student of Theology with her father, son of Samuel Newton. He was the first minister at Farmington, Conn., where he was installed on the day that the church was formed, Oct., 1652, he having preached there some time before. He remained there five years when he was dismissed and prepared to return to England. It has always been supposed that he did go to England and after remaining some time he re- turned to New England and settled in Milford, Conn. Later researches however, have led the searchers to believe that after he had prepared to go the ship left without him, and that he 7 The Descendants of Rev. Conn., June 7. 168.1 Slu died at Milford Conn., Feb. 4, 1675.
