FRANK F. PEARD - Beloved Father and Child Advocate - Frank F. Peard of Duxbury, MA, and Stuart, FL, died peacefully at home with family on May 25th after a brief illness.Frank was born and raised in Baltimore, MD where he attended the Gilman School. He graduated from Princeton University. After serving in the Korean War, he moved to Riverside, CT with his late wife Barbara Riefschneider Peard where they raised five children: Frank Peard, Hinsdale, IL, Sidney McClure, Duxbury, MA, Ann Wyatt, Norwell, MA, Jane Hamilton, Astoria, NY, and the late Lincoln Hamilton, Atlanta, GA. He was a successful wholesale lumber sales executive and board member for the LR McCoy Company for 40 years.
Frank's zest for life and tireless advocacy of those less fortunate will be remembered by all who knew him. He mentored countless children with his practical wisdom and irrepressible optimism through his work as a Big Brother and Guardian Ad Litem.
He was the beloved patriarch of not only his immediate family but of a large extended family, and was a loyal, devoted friend. In his free time, he was an avid sailor, a dancer extraordinaire and enjoyed golf and tennis.
Frank is survived by his wife Barbara Smith Peard, four children, and 10 loving grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters, Sidney Brown and Nancy Hanner.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30a.m on Saturday, June 2nd at the First Parish Unitarian Church in Duxbury, Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossroads for Kids, Inc. (www.crossroads4kids.org).
