Notes
Death
Rogers, Carol Fillmore76, passed away on October 10, 2009 after a 7 month courageous battle with a lung illness, with her daughters at her side. Carol grew up on the East Coast of Canada and moved to Florida in her 20's where she started her family. Later as a now US citizen and single parent, she began taking nursing courses and was so proud to have graduated as a RN at the age of 50. Always passionate about social justice, Carol traveled with a group to Nicaragua where she volunteered for four weeks. After working as a psychiatric nurse in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she retired and relocated to New Mexico and then to Scottsdale, Arizona, to be near her two daughters. She loved spending time with her family, particularly her granddaughters Olivia, Sophie and Lillie. She was a part-time volunteer of the Allegra Print & Imaging team, a huge Obama fan, an avid reader and very vibrant right up until she got sick. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and all of the many people who followed her and prayed for her over the last seven months. She is survived by her children, Eileen Rogers, Diane Rogers, and Richard Rogers (Beckie), foster daughter Megan Olszewski and her granddaughters Olivia, Sophie and Lillie. By her brother David Fillmore, his daughter Christine Verissimo, her sister Cathleen Fillmore and her sons, Adam Dean and Damian Becerra in Toronto, Ontario, as well as her special friends Dorothy Gerrard and JoAnn Pedersen. A Celebration of her Life and service will be held Saturday, October 24th at 12:00 noon at St. Barnabas on the Desert 6715 N. Mockingbird Lane, Scottsdale, Arizona 85253. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in Carol's name to The Big Wish project at www.TurtleWill.org or PO Box 1147 Carefree, AZ 85377. She will be remembered and honored with a plaque at the school in Mali, Africa that will be delivered by her daughters.
