The New York Herald, October 3, 1842. chroniclingamerica.loc.govRobbed in a Rope Walk -- One Samuel Furnival took an evening walk with Hoppy R Stephens and Michael Donovan on the evening of the 17th ult., and took a snooze in the rope walk in First avenue near Fifth street, in company with Donovan, and when he waked from his slumbers found that $87.50 had been removed from his pocket. Donovan was arrested, and $38 of the money recovered.

Death register says "ME Bedford"The Graveyard Shift by Carolee Inskeep lists Bedford Street Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery and Vaults, in use 1810-1851, located SE corner of Bedford Street and Morton Street. (The church was also known as the Greenwich Village Methodist Episcopal Church.) In 1913 the building was condemned and Seventh Avenue was extended directly through the property. The congregation was absorbed by the Metropolitan-Duane United Methodist Church.
