Baby (James?) CANFIELD

(Abt 1838 - Abt 1838)

Uncle Preston called family members, Preston & Darlene, Cordon & Peggy, Elwin & Lynette, Dean & Allyson, Uncle Elwin & Gene, and Candice together to be sealed on Mar 19, 1993 for this family, and others.

Information confirmed from Preston Hunt, via telephone call 4-15-2010. No documentation is in my possession. He said the information was researched by himself, and confirmed by Lyle and JoAnn Jones, his nephew while serving a mission there.

A possible problem with the story that has been passed down for generations through the history of David about and his first wife Sally (traditionally Sarah's were called Sally and Preston Hunt's research shows her records to be found under Sarah) is the fact that in 1840 there is a David listed in Defiance, Williams, Ohio which is where Elizabeth and David met and were married on October 1, 1843. The problem being that on the censes David is listed with a women 30-40, possibly a sister, or could it be his wife Sally. There is an unknown female age 10-15, 2 little girls under five and one little boy under five. In looking at David's first family all ages fit nicely into the scenario that this is his little family - with the exception of the teenage girl. Is this David and Sally's family living in Defiance? Is David living with other family members and the only male? Or could this all be answered easily with the discovery of another David of the same age in the same town? Could they have had two girls and one boy and then she died in childbirth of another son that was stillborn and not recorded in records? Only further research will help answer these questions.
