Served as an Indian spy but is not known for which side, he enlisted in Jan 1776 and served 12 days in Capt Henry Eckler Co, and then later served one week for Capt Bradbick's Co as a guard. In 1777 he served 12 to 14 days in Capt Christopher Fox's Co and in Aug 1777 he enlisted and served 10 to 12 days in Capt Bradbick's Co. From 1779 to the spring of 1783 he lived during the summer in Fort Windecker on the Mohawk River going out several time to spy for Col. Marinus Willett and Capt Brown.
His claim for pension was not allowed by the congress as he failed to furnish proof of six months actual military service as required by pension laws. His service in a frontier fort for the protection of the inhabitance not being considered military service and not provided for in the pension laws.
