John CLARKSON

From the Genealogical Magazine of New Jersey: John, b. at Woodbridge abt. 1690; d. there Nov. 8, 1757, "in the 67th year of his age;" bur. at Piscataway. His ear-mark for cattle, horses, sheep, etc., consisted of a crop on the top of the right ear and 2 slits down the crop, and a nick across the underside of the left ear. On Mar. 17, 1714/5 (prob. abt. the time John was married), his father, James Clarkson, deeded to him 60 acres of land he had received in right of his father, James Clarkson, deceased. Some time during the 1720's, John Clarkson deeded to his brother, James, 1/2 of Lot No. 48 in the 5th. division of land in Woodbridge. John Clarkson had previously purchased this lot from John Conger of Woodbridge. John Clarkson was one of the heirs and executors of his father, James Clarkson, on Jan. 5, 1729/30; and on Jan. 21, 1733/4, he became one of the administrators of the estate of his brother, Robert Clarkson.
