It appears he remained in Sussex County for 10 years before moving acorss the Delaware River into Mount Bethel Township in 1765 which until 1787 stretched from the Delaware Water Gap on the northeast to Sandts Eddy, about 6 miles from the county seat of Easton.
Benjamin and Catherine settled at or in the vicinity of Foul Rift, two miles down the Delaware from Belvidere,
