Rev. Dr. Alexander was a graduate of Jefferson College, Princeton Semenary and Tusculum College in Tennessee, where he received his D.D. He wrote the original Alexander Record and A Brief History of the synod of Tennessee, 1817 to 1887. He was a principal at several academies as well as a Presbyterian Minister and the founder of Hightstown Academy in New Jersey. The son of Samuel and Mary Alexander, he is my Great-Great Grandfather.
To the right is the Old Washington Presbyterian Church, on the land where the original church stood (it was destroyed by a tornado in 1857 and rebuilt in 1861, looking much like what the present church looked for the past century and a half), where he was a minister from 1842-1853.
