Effie Gwendolyn Godwin Cave, 93, widow of James Monroe Cave, peacefully went to her heavenly home Sept 1 with her loving family at her bedside. She was born Jan 5, 1911 in Princeton, TX to Joseph Wells Godwin & Minnie Francis Reed Godwin. She is survived by her brothers Ernest Godwin of Princeton TX & Marion Godwin of Richland, WA and two sisters Ruby Rogers of Gunter, TX and Margery Poston of Princeton, TX. Nine siblings predeceased her. Her children include Roberta Stalcup of OKC, C.H. Cave of OKC, Betty Potter and husband Paul of Bethany, Margery Adams and husband Don of Fairfield Bay, AR, Jerry Cave and wife Linda of Norman, Dean Cave and wife Jane of Billings MT, Gwen Wallace and husband Eldon of OKC; two sons James Joseph and Stephen Paul Cave predeceased her. Her grandchildren are Elizabeth Schmees; Chris & Larry Cave; Pamela Hilliard; Deborah Gadomski; Michael & David Hale; Lisa Sikes; Joe, James & John Cave; Timothy, Rachael & Taylor Cave; Forrest, Garrett, Derek and Jammey (deceased) Cave and Lava Baxter. There are 44 great grandchildren and 26 great-great grandchildren. Effie Cave was a homemaker who taught her children to love God and to live according to the bible. She assisted her husband in his sign painting business while rearing nine children and several grandchildren. She went about her work, joyfully singing no matter the task. In later years she worked at Springlake as a cashier where her husband was the amusement park artist and managed games. After his passing she again enjoyed caring for children in the church nursery as well as for families well into her 80's.Endnotes
