Richard William Greene, son of Richard Greene and Sarah (Sally) Webb.
Richard William Greene was born in East Haddam CT, on March 28th, 1804. He is the son of Richard Greene Sr. and Sarah “Sally” Webb. By 1828, he came to NY City to teach, and married his first wife Charlotte Gleason on August 7th 1828.
Their only son, Richard Gleason Jr was born June 2, 1629, in East Haddam CT. Charlotte Gleason Greene died just days after her son’s birth, on July 3, 1829, and at the age of 22 years.
By 1832, Richard moved to Philadelphia, and continued to teach. He published The Little Reckoner, an Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Grammar, Scholar's Companion and Revision of Valpy's Paley; and in 1833, Mr. Green was prepared for College by Dr. Parsons, but did not enter; in 1833 Yale gave him an honorary A. M.
Richard W Green married his second wife in 1834, Eliza Bulkley, who was born in 1802, in Wethersfield CT; she died at Philadelphia, Pa., on August 17, 1852.
1846, Feb 1st, Richard Greene died in Philadelphia, PA, at the age of 42 years. He was buried at River View Cemetery in East Haddam, CT.

Gleason was b., lived and d. at Farmington; m. July 25, 1791, Prudence Brainerd, who was b. at East Haddam, July 31, 1774; d. June 8, 1811; dau. of Daniel Brainerd* and Prudence Gridley, m. June 6, 1771. Mrs. Charlotte Greene d. July 3, 1829, aged 22, and was buried in the First Church Cemetery, East Haddam. R. W. Green m. (2) in 1834, Eliza Bulkley, who was b. at Wethersfield, 1802; she d. at Philadelphia, Pa., Aug. 17, 1852. Mr. Green was prepared for College by Dr. Parsons, but did not enter, and in 1833 Yale gave him an honorary A. M. He came to N. Y. in 1828, and taught school, removed to Philadelphia in 1832 and continued the profession of teaching until he d. Feb. 1, 1846. His widow d. Aug. 17, 1852. He published The Little Reckoner, an Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Grammar, Scholar's Companion and Revision of Valpy's Paley. He was buried at Riverside Cemetery. One child: 186 i.
