Death
Funeral service for George Everett "Jack" Cave, age 93, of Ackerly, Texas, will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020, 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Lamesa, with Pastor Jim Medley officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Cemetery in Big Spring, Texas.Jack passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, in Lamesa.
He was born on March 4, 1927 Collin County, Texas.
He married Dorothy Nell King Cave in 1947. They were married 72 years.
During Jack's life, he worked many, many years as a farmer.
He also served on the Flower Grove school board and was a county commissioner for several years. He retired from farming at the age of 87.
He loved family fishing trips, farming, watching oil wells being drilled (especially on any Cave land).
Jack also killed many, many elk and deer in Creede, Colorado and he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jack is survived by his spouse, Dorothy, daughters Pam Burgess of Plains, Texas, Jackie (Terry) Stogner of Lamesa, Judy (Graham) Hatcher of Brownwood and son Jon (Trena, aka favorite daughter in law) of Lamesa, grandchildren Coley (Tamsen) Burgess, Jolyne (Tim) Fisher, Charlie (Rachel) Stogner, Lisa (Chuck) Collins, John Kennedy, Julie (Brandan) Childs, Kayci and Braxton Cave, great-grandchildren Jade and Sage Burgess, Finley and Indy Fisher, Emerie, Kaesan and Ellie Stogner, Gunnar Collins and one great-granddaughter on the way.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Monroe and Effie Cave, siblings Francis Jones, Merlene Williams, Delma Harrell, Mae Nell Carmichael Barclay, Jefferson Provine (Doc) and Fred.
The family would like to extend its deepest thanks to selfless caregivers Angie Owen and Martha Gonzales for taking awesome care of Jack for the last 2 1/2 years. The family would like to thank the Beehive staff for loving on Jack for the past 6 years. We know your lives were forever changed by Jack as he loved each Beehive staff member and resident.
