Isaac Newton Cave- Civil War Veteran Passas Away at his home on East Fair Avenue
Isaac Newton Cave, Civil War veteran aged 80 years, passed away last night about twelve o’clock at his late residence, 154 East Fair Avenue after an illness of several weeks. He was the last surviving member of Company M First Ohio Calvery and served until the end of the war.
His wife proceeded him to the grave 27 years ago.
Those surviving to mourn their loss are four daughters. Miss Alora Cave, Mrs. Grace Snyder, and Mrs. Stary Schriner of the city and Mrs. Harry Downhour, of West Rushville, Ohio; two sons, Ira and Bryon L Cave, both of this city, two sisters, Mrs. J A McCelelind of Laurelville, and Mrs. Hiram Hubbell of Caledonia, two brothers, Jasper Cave of South Perry and Charles V Cave of Lancaster, also a host of friends and relatives.
Private funeral services will be held at ten o’clock Friday morning at his home with Rev. H. W. Stoody in charge.
The body will be laid at rest in Forest Rose cemetery.
