Verna Lucille Goheen, 90, died at 9:10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at Jersey Community Hospital.
She was born July 27, 1921, in Jersey County, and was the daughter of Earl Miller and Ruth (Angel) Miller, now deceased. She married Harry Stockton Goheen Sr. March 30, 1940, in St. Charles, Mo. He died July 8, 1993. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, Harry S. "Dutch" Jr. and Grace Goheen of Fidelity, Donald and Patricia Goheen of Wood River and Terry and Faye Goheen of Cottage Hills; one daughter, Joy Hendy of Jerseyville; a half brother, Leonard Burch of Kane; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Edward Goheen; a granddaughter, Grace Goheen; and half brother, Emmett Kellerman.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. The Rev. Sonny Renken will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the family. Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
